Witness the Great Pyramids of Giza
Visiting the Great Pyramids of Giza is an experience of a lifetime that should be on every traveler’s bucket list. One of the most famous historic sites on the globe, it sits across the Nile River from Cairo, guarded by the Sphinx, and includes the iconic Great Pyramid, the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and the largest of the three pyramids. An astonishing work of engineering is believed to have been built as a tomb for an Egyptian king called Khufu, the second king of the fourth dynasty, and was completed around 2540 BC. At 481 feet high, it was the world’s tallest structure for over 4,000 years. The Pyramid of Chephren lies to the southwest and appears larger at first, set on higher ground, but it rises to 448 feet. The Pyramid of Mycerinus is the smallest at just over 203 feet in height.

Cairo beyond the Pyramids
While the Pyramids may be the star attraction, there’s a lot more to experience in Cairo. The city streets allow you to explore authentic daily life, including the delicious tastes of local foods, the myriad of colors and aromas in the souks, and the sounds of live music. The most famous souk is Khan el-Khalili which is a sight to behold, though touristy. Souq Al Goma is a large gathering with all sorts of unique and sometimes odd items for sale. There are a variety of multicultural neighborhoods, with Zamalek being the most fashionable, home to trendy boutiques, bars, restaurants, and cafes. A myriad of fascinating museums awaits as well, including the Egyptian Museum, with its vast offerings that include the complete Tutankhamun collection and over 120,000 other items focused on the Ancient World. The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is well worth a look too, covering the entirety of human history in Egypt.

Luxury Cruise on the Nile River
A luxury cruise is the ultimate way to explore the Nile River, traveling on a sleek yacht-like cruising ship with a minimal number of passengers, typically no more than four dozen or so. As you take in multiple destinations steeped in intriguing history, an Egyptologist can bring it all to life, providing a more authentic look that can significantly enhance your trip. You can visit the Great Pyramids at Giza on an excursion and discover the fascinating ancient city of Luxor on the site that was the pharaoh’s capital of Thebes between the 16th and 11th centuries BC. Traveling the Suez Canal, visits to the spectacular Red Sea beaches, swimming, and snorkeling in crystal-clear blue water with vibrant coral can often be experienced too. Throughout your journey, you can look forward to plenty of modern comforts, including a spacious en-suite cabin and a large deck for relaxing while surrounded by the incredible passing scenery.

Hot Air Balloon Ride in Luxor
A hot-air balloon ride is a bucket-list experience made even more so by soaring over the world’s largest open-air museum, the ancient city of Luxor. As you enjoy a bird’s-eye view, your pilot guide will tell you more about its rich history and point out the various historical attractions. In the beautiful morning light. You’ll marvel at the incredible ruins of the Egyptian temple complexes of Luxor and Karnak that stand within the modern city and immediately opposite across the Nile River, the tombs, temples, and monuments of the Theban Necropolis on the west bank. That includes the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens. The adventure typically begins with an early pickup at your hotel to enjoy a colorful sunrise along with tea and a light breakfast followed by an unforgettable ride.
Diving and Snorkeling on the Red Sea Riviera
The Red Sea Riviera is one of the world’s best diving and snorkeling destinations. It’s located on Egypt’s eastern coastline along the Red Sea and boasts a marine habitat with abundant life, from vibrant coral and sea anemone to clownfish, shoals of bannerfish, and reef flats that are covered with giant clams. The warm water is strikingly clear, and the marine life is even accessible right from the miles of pristine sands. A variety of boat trips are available too, including excursions from Hurghada that will bring you to islands like Giftun and Orange Bay to discover their beautiful beaches and underwater treasures with a freshly prepared lunch and drinks included too. Others can take you to the Marsa Alam Dolphin House, a famous dive site with an offshore reef that includes a lagoon where spinner dolphins live.

Gawk at Abu Simbel
The ancient temple complex of Abu Simbel is an extraordinary site made up of two massive rock-cut temples in Abu Simbel on the western bank of Lake Nasser at the second cataract of the Nile River. They were constructed during the reign of Ramses II in the 13th century BC. The Great Temple stands 98 feet high and 115 feet long while the Small Temple is 40 feet in height and 92 feet long. The temples are considered to be the most magnificent monuments Ramses II built as the ideal example of the pharaoh’s ambition as well as being a model illustration of the achievements of modern engineering. A symbol of the country they may be less iconic than the pyramids, but the temples are a must-see for anyone exploring Ancient Egypt.
