Day by Day Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival into Muscat airport
Your Classic Oman trip begins with your arrival into Muscat Airport. Once you have collected your bags, our representative will warmly welcome you in the arrivals area, and transfer you to your hotel. After checking into your hotel, you’ll have the remainder of the day to spend at your leisure. You may want to relax by the pool after your long journey, or perhaps begin your exploration of the Omani capital. With its rich history, beautiful architecture, stunning landscapes, and vibrant culture there is so much to see and do. Spend your evening in one of the city’s plethora of restaurants sampling Omani cuisine, a mouthwatering mix of Arabian, Indian, and Persian influences
- Day 2
Muscat: Private Guided City Tour
After breakfast this morning, you’ll meet with your English speaking driver, and embark on a tour of Muscat. You’ll start with a visit to the world renowned Grand Mosque, known officially as the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, with its harmonious blend of traditional Islamic architecture and contemporary elements. After exploring the Mosque’s interior, adorned with intricate artwork and exquisite craftsmanship, and learning about its cultural significance, you will drive through the city, towards the Corniche. On arrival, you can take some time to wander through the charming lanes of the Souq, or sit and enjoy refreshments at the small coffee shops. Next, head to Muscat’s Old Town, and visit the Bait al Zubair Museum, with its extensive collection of artifacts and exhibits that provide insights into Oman’s history, culture, and traditions. After completing a tour of the museum, you will make brief stops at Al Alam Palace and the 16th century Portuguese built Mirani and Jalali forts, before heading back to your hotel, where the afternoon will be free for you to enjoy at your leisure.
- Day 3
Jebel Shams: Transfer to Jebel Shams with sightseeing enroute
You will start early this morning and venture to Wadi Bani Awf, traversing the magnificent Hajar mountains. This awe-inspiring route, renowned for its scenic beauty and winding path, is often hailed as one of the finest off-road experiences in Oman. Your drive will continue on to Jebel Shams, where you will witness the breathtaking “Grand Canyon” of Oman. Driving to the base of Jebel Shams, you will travel along the picturesque floor of Wadi Nakher, eventually reaching the charming rug weavers’ village. Here, amidst the tranquil surroundings, you will enjoy a leisurely picnic lunch. Continuing your expedition, you will venture deeper into the Jebel Shams region, driving through Wadi Ghul, arriving at a plateau situated at an altitude of approximately 2,000 meters, where you will be treated to a mesmerizing vista of a colossal gorge plunging 1,000 meters deep, before heading to your Jebel Shams hotel.
- Day 4
Nizwa: Transfer to Nizwa with sightseeing enroute
Leaving Jebel Shams behind this morning your driver will transfer you towards Nizwa. Along the way you will make several stops, the first of which will be the enchanting mountain village of Misfah, widely regarded as one of the most breathtaking destinations Oman, where, along with your guide you’ll embark on a leisurely stroll through the old town, a pedestrian-only area, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in its beauty. Next you’ll continue your journey, and head to Al-Hamra, an ancient clay settlement boasting numerous red brick houses. Here, you will have the opportunity to visit the charmingly curated Bait al-Safah Museum, a home and cultural museum that provides a comprehensive insight into the traditional Omani way of life. Inside, you’ll witness the art of coffee roasting and bread baking, while Omani ladies showcase their skills and treat you to delectable samples of their culinary creations. Upon arrival at your Nizwa hotel spend the rest of the day at your leisure.
- Day 5
Nizwa: Private Guided City Tour
After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, your driver will meet you in your hotel’s lobby and you’ll head off to experience the vibrant Nizwa Market, which takes place every Friday. This captivating spectacle has remained unchanged for centuries, offering a glimpse into the rich cultural traditions of the region. Following your market exploration, you will visit the remarkable Nizwa Fort whose imposing 35-meter-high fortress tower serves as a prominent landmark in the oasis. This rectangular fortress, constructed in the mid-17th century, greets visitors through a grand wooden gate. Adjacent to the fort lies the bustling Nizwa Souk, inviting you to leisurely stroll through its vibrant market stalls. Continuing your journey around Nizwa, you will visit the Bahla UNESCO Fort, a testament to the region’s architectural and historical significance. You will also have the pleasure of visiting the charming Jabreen Castle, known for its exquisite ceiling paintings and intricately carved wooden doors, an opportunity to marvel at the craftsmanship and rich heritage of the area.
- Day 6
Jebel Al Akhdar: Transfer to Jebel Al Akhdar with sightseeing & village walk enroute
After checking out of your Nizwa hotel this morning, you will embark on a journey into the foothills of Jebel Al Akhdar, where you’ll find the picturesque village of Birkat al Mauz. On arrival you will have the privilege of witnessing one of UNESCO finest World Heritage sites, the remarkable Water Channel known as Falaj al Khatmeen and take a leisurely walk through the lush date palm plantations, immersing yourself in the natural beauty of the surroundings. Next, you will ascend the mountain, arriving at the breathtaking Saiq Plateau and embark on a captivating four-village walk, before being transferred to your Jebel Al Akhdar hotel.

Wahiba Sands: Transfer to Wahiba Sands with sightseeing enroute
For the next stop on your Omani adventure, you’re ‘Desert Bound’. After breakfast this morning, along with your driver, you’ll embark on a scenic drive to Ibra, with a delightful stop at the charming village of Al Minsifah, before venturing into the mesmerizing desert landscape. Along the way to the desert camp, you will have the pleasure of experiencing a gentle dune drive, adding an element of excitement to your adventure. Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed with a refreshing drink. Your room key will be handed to you, allowing you to settle in and make yourself comfortable. The afternoon presents an array of options for you to indulge in. You can take a leisurely stroll over the majestic dunes, embark on a memorable camel ride within the camp, or relax and soak in the stunning landscape. This evening, head to a picturesque dune to witness a majestic desert sunset before enjoying a fireside dinner.

Ras Al Hadd: Transfer to Ras Al Hadd with sightseeing enroute
After savoring a delicious breakfast at your camp, it’s time to continue your adventure. Your first stop will be to meet a Bedouin family, providing a unique opportunity to connect with the desert inhabitants and gain insights into their traditional way of life. Bidding them farewell, your path leads you to the captivating Wadi Bani Khalid, a true desert oasis with its alluring natural spring water pools shimmering in vibrant shades of green. Take a moment to immerse yourself in the tranquility of this stunning location before heading into the heart of Wahiba Sands, for a picnic lunch amongst the vast expanse of golden sand dunes. Next, you will continue towards the town of Sur, for a Dhow factory tour to learn about the craftsmanship involved in building these traditional Arabian sailing vessels and gain a deeper understanding of Sur’s maritime heritage. After arriving at your Ras Al Hadd hotel, spend the rest of the day at your leisure

Muscat: Transfer to Muscat with sightseeing enroute
Today, start your journey back towards Muscat, along the scenic coastline from Sur to Quriyat, treating you to breathtaking vistas of the azure waters of the Gulf of Oman against the backdrop of pristine white beaches. Your first stop along the way will be at Wadi Tiwi, where you will take a short walk through the village, immersing yourself in the charm of Omani village houses and the local way of life. After spending some time here, you’ll continue on, making a stop at the captivating Bimah Sinkhole, a natural crater, revealing a mesmerizing green water pool connecting to the sea. After a few moments to admire the beauty of this unique site, your journey will then lead you past the town of Quriyat. Today’s scenic drive will provide plenty of opportunities to appreciate the coastal beauty and soak in the serene atmosphere before you reach Muscat
- Day 10
Muscat: Day at Leisure
You’ll have the day at your leisure to do as you wish. You may want to spend your day relaxing at your hotel, however should you wish to explore Muscat further, we do have a few suggestions. For those with an appreciation of the arts, the Royal Opera House is highly recommended. Take a guided tour, attend a performance or simply experience the grandeur of this cultural landmark with its beautifully landscaped gardens and tranquil ambiance. Alternatively you may want to delve into Omani History at the National Museum, or further explore Muscat Old Town, taking a stroll through its narrow streets. Also worth a visit is the Mutrah Souq, a traditional market filled with colorful stalls selling spices, textiles, jewelry, and more, a great place to shop for souvenirs and experience the local culture. This evening indulge in Omani Cuisine and treat yourself to a delicious Omani meal at one of the local restaurants in Muscat.
- Day 11
Departure
After 10 unforgettable nights, your private tour of Oman comes to an end. Enjoy one last breakfast before checking out of your Muscat hotel – your private driver will pick you up for a transfer to Muscat Airport.
