This 9-night itinerary includes the two highlights in southern Africa. You will firstly start your itinerary in the iconic Okavango Delta in Botswana. Here you will spend six nights on safari, across two different areas and safari camps in the Delta. Experience the best of the Delta with game drives across floodplains and expansive plains, and boat safaris through smaller channels and riverways that make up the Delta. You’ll spend three nights in two luxury camps – Sable Alley and Little Vumbura.

Here your safari guide will educate you on the mechanics of the Delta and how each year, the waters completely transform the landscape, forcing the animals to adapt to its everchanging ways too. You will then fly from Maun, over to Victoria Falls. Spend three nights here at Ilala Lodge on the Zimbabwean side, where you can enjoy a tour of the mighty falls, sunset cruises on the Royal Zambezi and get stuck in with all the adrenaline-fueled activities on offer.

Day by Day Itinerary

Days 1 - 3
Sable Alley, Okavango Delta
On arrival into Maun airport, you will be met and guided through the check-in process for your light aircraft flight to the Okavango Delta. You’ll fly over the vast plains of the Delta, where you’ll be met by your safari guide as you land on the bush airstrip. Your safari will begin immediately as you’ll enjoy a leisurely drive through the bush to check in at Sable Alley. This camp sits in the Khwai concession, bordering the Moremi Game Reserve. You will enjoy three nights in this luxury camp, spending your days on safari both early morning and late afternoon. All meals are included at Sable Alley, and of course your safari guide will find the perfect spots for coffee in the bush and sundowners to end your day out on safari.

  At little Vumbura, the adventure begins en route to the camp that’s perched on a private island, with access only possible by a boat that weaves between water lilies and reeds. Guests stay in one of seven tents with wooden floors, large beds, in and outdoor showers, a separate sunken lounge, and a private veranda from which to view the floodplains. Each room is colored in neutral tones with light touches of indigo echoing the waters surrounding the island, and every tent has a small collection of African art.
  
  A walkway leads to a small library and lookout and there are floating decks and lamp-lit public areas, excellent venues to sample the local cuisine, created with seasonal ingredients from local farmers. The nearby mosaic of habitats supports all kinds of wildlife, with buffalo and elephants often sighted nearby, but you’ll see leopards, lions, crocodiles, and red lechwe on game drives and water safaris.

  A stunning camp expertly woven into its natural surroundings and exceptionally well-located to explore the waterways, island woodlands, and wildlife of the Kavango Delta, Vumbura Plains is every bit as adventurous as it is luxurious. Days 4 - 6
Little Vumbura, Okavango Delta
With a short game drive en route to the airstrip, you’ll fly from Khwai to the Vumbura concession. Here you will be met on arrival and transferred to Little Vumbura Camp. Access to this camp is by road and boat, so you’ll whiz along the waterways of the Delta, arriving at camp on a floating walkway. It’s an exciting way to start the second part of your safari. As the camp is on the channel, you can enjoy water activities like boat safaris and mokoro rides here, as well as game drives. This camp is well-rounded, and the accommodation is very comfortable, with a beautiful open-plain main area which looks out to the water.

  Located on a private conservation just south of Moremi Game Reserve, Chitabe is renowned as one of Botswana’s most fascinating predator-watching hotspots. The camp offers a well-concealed collection of eight traditional safari tents, each running on solar power and with access to a deck with savanna views. Large beds framed by African arts and photography from Dave Hamman who co-owns Chitabe, have views of the local wildlife (elephants frequent the camp) through the window, and there are outdoor showers for added immersion. There’s a raised bar, lounge, and restaurant, all with excellent views, as well as an atmospheric boma wrapped around a campfire.

Days 7 - 9
Ilala Lodge, Victoria Falls
You will say goodbye to the Okavango Delta and fly back to Maun today. You will then connect onto a flight to Victoria Falls (this may requite a night in Johannesburg depending on the logistics). On arrival in Victoria Falls, you will be met and transferred to Ilala Lodge where you will spend three nights. As well as the mighty falls themselves, there is so much to see and do in Victoria Falls and the surrounding town and national parks. For three nights in Victoria Falls, we’d highly recommend a guided tour of the falls itself and a sunset cruise on the Royal Zambezi. This gives you a varied experience of the falls. On the tour, you’ll see them at their most intense – crashing and thundering down. And on the river cruise, you’ll experience the calmness and stillness of the river, with a gentle boat ride past hippo, crocodiles, and a variety of birdlife. There is also a wealth of activities that you can do at Victoria Falls – from adrenaline-junkie activities like bungee jumping and white-water rafting, to more serene activities like private dinners or community village tours. The lodge comprises of 73 rooms, each offering comfortable bedrooms and well-appointed ensuite bathrooms. There is a range of room types in different wings and we can advise on which room type would be best suited for you. The décor features local Zimbabwean crafts and materials, and there is a relaxed atmosphere to the lodge. During your time here in Zimbabwe, there is plenty to do. Of course, make sure you spend a day visiting Victoria Falls and for those more adventurous, there are plenty of adrenaline-fuelled activities like white-water rafting, bungee jumping, and helicopter flights over the falls. These can be pre-arranged by us, or through Ilala Lodge on arrival.

Today you will be transferred to Victoria Falls airport to fly home.
