This is the largest caldera in the world and the drive down the crater walls is one of the most exhilarating safari experiences. On the crater floor, you will get the opportunity to see an array of animals including elephant, lion, buffalo, zebra, and potentially rhino. Depending on what time of year you travel, you will then either drive or fly to the Serengeti National Park to stay in a mobile tented camp for the next 3 nights. Witness the sound and sight of 2 million wildebeest and watch their movements, with lurking predators! Day by Day Itinerary

Days 1 - 2
Ngorongoro Crater
You will be met at Kilimanjaro international airport and begin your safari to the Ngorongoro Crater. You will drive through coffee plantations, local villages, and expansive national parks. You will have a private 4×4 vehicle and guide so you can stop as much as you like for photo opportunities. You’ll spend the next two nights at Entamanu Camp which is a luxury tented camp located on the rim of the crater. The views from Entamanu Camp are unparalleled and, as part of the Nomad portfolio, the camp offers exceptional accommodation and guiding to complement its location. On the second day, you will have a full-day game drive inside the Ngorongoro Crater on a private basis. Make sure to pack layers, it can be chilly in the mornings.

  Entamanu Ngorongoro Camp Overview
  Located on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater is Nomad’s Entamanu Camp. This is a sustainably built camp offering a tented accommodation experience in the Ngorongoro. Because of its altitude, cooler temperatures and strong winds, some have argued that this is a recipe for disaster. However, all of Entamanu’s seven rooms are heated and provide thick duvets, blankets, and hot water bottles at night for extra warmth and cosiness. All of the rooms have crater views and from the main area, you can even see across to the Serengeti National Park! Entamanu is a great option for families as there are two family units available with adjoining bathrooms, and children over the age of 8 are welcome. There is something very warm and inviting about Entamanu Camp – they have taken the challenges of the weather up on the exposed Ngorongoro Crater Rim and embraced it, making it a comfortable, warm and cosy environment for your safari stay.

  The Highlands Overview
  This camp is a standout across all of Tanzania, if not Africa! Situated in the remote forest of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in northern Tanzania, The Highlands Camp has redefined the Ngorongoro Crater experience completely. Compared to other lodges which sit on the crater rim, the Highlands Camp is situated much further from the crater rim itself and instead, sits in a remote forest that skirts the Olmoti Volcano. The accommodation itself is award-winning and is like no other. Eight domed canvas and glass suites perch high above the forest, offering exquisite views across the forest. There are two domes in the main area – one for dining and the other is a lounge/bar area. As the temperatures are much cooler, all of the domes have their own stove fire which makes it much warmer and cosier. The décor is very Scandi, with faux fur rugs, minimal design and statement artwork. The experience at The Highlands is something to rave about alone. Here you can do hikes, day trips to the soda lake in Empakaai crater, local community visits and much more.

  Located just outside of the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area is an owner-run lodge called Plantation Lodge. The lodge itself is conveniently located close to three national parks – the Ngorongoro Crater (where you can descent down for a game drive), Lake Manyara National Park and Tarangire National Park. As such, it works well in a driving itinerary when you combine the northern parks, especially if you then head onto the Serengeti after. The lodge is excellent value for money and offers accommodation to suit all – honeymooners, families, couples or solo travelers. Surrounding the lodge are coffee plantations, a working farm and well-kept gardens and vegetable patches. The food served and made at Plantation Lodge is all home-grown and this is one of the main draws to this lodge over others in the are. The décor of Plantation Lodge is very colonial and as it’s owner-run, it offers an welcoming and intimate atmosphere.
Days 3 - 5
Serengeti National Park
After breakfast and a morning coffee, you will make your way to the Manyara airstrip to fly to the Serengeti National Park – the most iconic park in Tanzania. On arrival, you will be met by your safari guide and begin your game drive en route to Lamai Camp, where you will be based for the next 3 nights. Out on your daily game drives, you will drive through a variety of landscapes, with the opportunity to see elephant, hippo, crocodile, giraffe, zebra, and antelope to name a few. As most cats are territorial, your guide will know the best locations for big such as lion prides, cheetah, and leopard. Between game drives, enjoy the amenities at Lamai Camp, such as the swimming pool and the beautiful lounge areas, looking out to the open plains. It really is one of the best camps in the Serengeti – if not all of Tanzania.

  As part of the Nomad portfolio, Lamai is a beautiful and loved safari camp in the Serengeti National Park in northern Tanzania. The camp sits on the Lamai Wedge, above the vast savannahs and surrounded by a collection of giant boulders. The design is fitting with its surroundings – as neutral colours, tones and textures are used to compliment the natural kopjes. The camp is formed of eight rooms, each with large ensuite bathrooms, private verandas and expansive views across the plains. For the communal areas, there is a swimming pool, a natural rock deck offering a great viewpoint, and open air and indoor dining areas. Of course Nomad wouldn’t be as highly regarded and rated as it is without their particularly great safari guides, staff members and managers who keeps everything at Lamai running smoothly. Do not underestimate how far the staff will go to to make sure you are treated like Kings and Queens – bush breakfasts, sundowners, and morning in coffee in bed are just a few!

These grasslands in the eastern part of the park were closed for over 20 years to allow the cheetah population to restore naturally, without human interruption or distraction. Since its opening to the public, Namiri Plains is one of the only camps in this area so a safari here will feel completely private and secluded. Not only that, but the cheetah population has grown enormously and as a result of its success, you will not have a stay in Namiri Plains and not see a cheetah! In fact, the big cat population here is really impressive – lion prides and leopards can also be seen in this area.   Overlooking the game-filled plains, Sayari Camp is situated in the north of the Serengeti National Park in northern Tanzania. Between the months of June and October, the wildebeest migration herds will be up in this area, feeding on green pasture before taking their opportunity to cross the Mara River. The benefit of being in a camp like Sayari is that the guides will know where the herds are every day and will have a greater insight into when they will make that river crossing and at which crossing point. The camp itself was just redesigned and now offers an even more luxurious and contemporary feel to it. Each of the 15 suites have walk-in showers, free-standing outdoor baths, beautiful décor and private verandas. For your final destination, you will fly from the Serengeti to Zanzibar Island.
