Have you ever wanted to snorkel or swim alongside sea turtles? You can do just that throughout the islands. Watching them glide through the water or feasting on seagrass often without another soul around. Anze Lazio on Praslin Island is a top pick for many, a blindingly white sand beach bordered by calm, clear water. Follow the rock line to the left of the beach facing the sea. There’s a good chance that you’ll encounter a friendly “resident turtle,” who seems to enjoy the company of humans, swimming right alongside them.

Valle de Mai National Park on Praslin Island is ideal for romantic walks. It’s the home of the rare Coco de Mer palm which produces a huge, 40-pound seed, the world’s largest. Take a stroll along the scenic paths that meander through the lush forest bringing views of the abundant flora and fauna. Then suddenly opening to panoramic vistas of hidden sandy coves and serene, brilliant blue waters.

Curieuse is one of the world’s few places where giant Aldabra tortoise roam wild. With more than 300 here, ranging from just-hatched babies to over 100 years old.

Explore La Digue on Two Wheels  

With virtually no vehicle traffic, La Digue is wonderfully peaceful and atmospheric, feeling as if it’s stuck in another time. Rent bikes and spend the day beach-hopping. Discover secluded coves where you’ll have your own stretch of sand for private time together. If you bring snorkel gear, there’s a reef wall adjacent to the west coast. There you can hop in and snorkel among the turtles and all sorts of exotic fish. Then, end your day with a refreshing drink and delicious Creole meal in one of the tiny beachside eateries.

Birdwatching

As a birdwatching haven, the Seychelles boast some of the world’s rarest birds. Including the Seychelles black parrot, Seychelles paradise flycatcher and Seychelles white-eye. Along with some spectacular seabird colonies, with birds such as sooty and white terns. Frigate birds and the white-tailed tropicbird. Praslin is the only island where the black parrot is likely to be spotted. Along with the blue pigeon and kestrel. Cousin Island offers the best chance to catch a glimpse of the fody, and plenty of nesting seabirds too.
