With family roots in Kenya, it became a continent I have naturally gravitated towards. I’ve traveled extensively around East and Southern, working with luxury camps, guides, and rangers for over eight years. I am enthralled by Africa and would happily talk about this diverse continent’s wildlife, cultures and experiences all day, every day.

    Day by Day Itinerary

    • Day 1

      Arrive in Lusaka

You will be met on arrival in Lusaka international airport and transferred to the luxury boutique hotel called Latitude 15. Whether you are arriving in the morning or evening, the night here will allow you to rest and recover after your long-haul flight.

    • Days 2 - 3

      South Luangwa National Park

This morning you will be transferred to Lusaka’s domestic airport to fly into the South Luangwa National Park (Mfuwe airstrip). On arrival, you will be met by a guide from Tafika Camp and begin your game drive up north through the park, past the Mfuwe and Nsefu Sectors. You will arrive in the flagship camp of Remote Africa called Tafika Camp. You will stay here for 2 nights, enjoying game drives (day and night), walking safaris, and cultural visits.

Tafika Camp is a family-owned and run safari camp. The Coppinger’s have been in the safari industry for a long time, and really do know how to make your time special. When you are not enjoying the safari activities, enjoy time in the camp and enjoy an ‘armchair safari’ looking out to the banks of the river.

      South Luangwa National Park

After two nights at Tafika Camp, you will being your walking safari trail. You will spend the day walking in the bush, guided by professional walking guides and a park scout. You will spend the next two nights in Chikoko Bush Camp. This is a camp that is built during the peak season in Zambia, and accessed only by foot.

The main draw to a walking safari is that you can experience life in the bush from a different perspective. While you do see big game on foot in Zambia, a walking safari really does emphasize the smaller aspects of a safari – the flora and fauna that is often overlooked on a game drive.

After two nights in Chikoko Bush Camp, you will walk through the bush to the next bush camp called Crocodile Bush Camp. Both Chikoko and Crocodile Camp are small, intimate camps made from local makuti material, reed and thatch. These camps blend effortlessly into the bush, offering a really authentic and original safari experience.

You will spend today walking through the South Luangwa National Park. This area is north of the Nsefu Sector, and is a hotspot for elephant, buffalo, hyena, lion and wild dog in particular. Zambia is particularly famous for seeing big game on foot, and you will often come across fresh leopard or big cat footprints.

      North Luangwa National Park

This morning you will take a light aircraft transfer north to the sister camp in the North Luangwa. North Luangwa National Park is even more remote, authentic and hidden than the Nsefu sector of the South Luangwa National Park. With only three camps in the park, you will feel like you have the entire park to yourself. Mwaleshi Camp sits on the banks of the Mwaleshi River, and offers a really authentic safari experience.

      • Day 11

        Departure

This morning you will be transferred to the North Luangwa airstrip to fly to Lusaka. Here you will be transferred to the international airport where you will connect onto your international flights home.
