Why we love private tours of England

What better task than to explore England in order to design the perfect trips for our clients? Creating private guided tours is a joy in this country with the chance to wander through London, one of the world’s great cities, and discover some of the most iconic sites like Big Ben and the Tower of London. Being immersed in the world of the Beatles in Liverpool while enjoying its incredible cultural attractions is always fascinating, with the best part meeting up with locals who reveal fascinating stories about the landmarks and the cities, along with some great hidden gems. Of course, the English countryside offers a wealth of discoveries too, from scenic natural beauty to ancient history that can be explored at places like Stonehenge. A luxury tour might not only include the famous stone circle but the chance to bring it to life by visiting other spots linked to it like Old Sarum and the incredible Salisbury Museum.

  • London

The British capital offers an endless array of attractions, from the London Eye with its views of iconic landmarks like Big Ben and shopping ’til you drop to a dinner cruise on the River Thames, and catching a famous West End show.

  • Bath

Bath features soothing pools fed by the same natural hot springs the Romans built temples around centuries ago. It also boasts beautiful Georgian architecture and a connection to English novelist Jane Austen.

  • Cotswolds

One of the most beautiful places in England, the Cotswolds offers winding lanes that travel through storybook-like villages with honey-hued cottages surrounded by woodlands, green rolling hills, bubbling streams, and medieval bridges.

  • York

The “Great City in the North,” York is home to northern Europe’s largest cathedral, York Minster, and hundreds of other historic buildings and museums, from the York Castle Museum to the Yorkshire Museum.

  • Oxford

A magnificent city with rich history, culture, and spectacular architecture, Oxford is home to ancient colleges, intriguing museums and galleries, and numerous parks and gardens, with a compact, walkable center.

Best time to visit England

The best time to visit England is generally from May through September, the warmest part of the year. The wildflowers will be blooming, the alfresco dining scene thriving, there will be many lively festivals, and you can enjoy the beautiful beaches. This is also the busiest in terms of crowds, with July through early September the peak, and accommodation rates are at their highest. Aim for early to mid-May or late September through early October for decent weather without the biggest crowds. November through March, outside of the Christmas holidays, is the cheapest and least crowded time to visit.

What to do in England

In England you can do everything from exploring attractions like the Tower of London and cruising the River Thames to getting acquainted with royalty at palaces and castles, enjoying scenic drives through the Cotswolds, marveling at Stonehenge, and soaking in Roman baths.

  • Take a stroll through history

Continuously inhabited since 9000 BC, England has a long and fascinating history. Explore its past everywhere from ancient Stonehenge and the Tower of London where you can marvel at the crown jewels and see the executioner’s block that beheaded Henry VIII’s wives to watching the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace.

  • Visit a local pub

Pubs in England are renowned for their hearty traditional British food and homey atmosphere. There’s probably no pub where you won’t find fish and chips, served with mushy peas and plenty of malt vinegar, while the Sunday roast dinner is a favorite featuring roasted meat, mashed potatoes, and sides like Yorkshire pudding.

  • Explore the great outdoors

There’s lots of beautiful nature throughout England for enjoying the great outdoors, including the mountainous Lakes District, with the greenest countryside and 16 lakes, ideal for scenic walks and bike rides. The picturesque Cotswolds with meandering streams, lush hills, and storybook villages with honey-hued cottages are always a joy to explore.
