Luxury France Honeymoons

Many name France as their dream destination for a honeymoon, and often Paris, with the “city of love” offering many romantic moments. Walk along the Seine River, take in the view from atop the Eiffel Tower, stroll through palace gardens, and sip Champagne in the place where it’s exclusively produced. And that’s just to name a few. You could always head to the French Riviera to soak up the glitz, glamor, and beaches, or stay in a real-life castle, feeling like you’re the king or queen. Parisian restaurants and most eateries throughout the country are ridiculously delicious. In Paris alone there are more than 100 Michelin-star offerings, making it a no-brainer for a romantic dinner out.

If you’re up for an adventure, rent bikes and cycle through the Loire Valley, with its many chateaux and vineyards. Along the way, do some tasting and touring, perhaps picking up a bottle and maybe some of the famous Loire Valley cheeses for a little picnic along the river. In Provence, you can stroll hand-in-hand through beautiful lavender fields and take a cooking class together so you can make some of your French favorites back home. The list of honeymoon-worthy things to do here is nearly endless.

Romance can be found around every corner of this atmospheric city, including the iconic Eiffel Tower, the perfect spot to steal a kiss. There are charming cafes for enjoying regional cheeses with French wine, magnificent architecture, and incredible museums like the Louvre, the world’s largest, home to the Mona Lisa, and many other treasures. There are many enticing hideaways and nooks in the Montmartre neighborhood and the ancient Pont Neuf Bridge has been a favorite spot for romance since opening over 400 years ago.

  • Loire Valley

The Loire Valley is an idyllic countryside honeymoon destination in France with over 300 chateaux and more than a thousand vineyards open to the public. When it comes to beauty, castles, and wine tasting, you’ll be spoiled for choice. Visit the best chateaux in the region like Chateau de Chaumont-sur-Loire and Chateau de Chambord and take a wine tour to sample Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, and Cabernet Franc. Biking along the Loire Velo Cycle Path in Orleans is likely to be a highlight, but the most memorable thing to do of all is to feel like royalty by staying in a chateau.

  • Nice

With its picturesque promenade, charming markets, incredible cuisine, beautiful beaches, and access to fabulous places like Eze and Monaco, a honeymoon in Nice is sure to be memorable.  You’ll enjoy city attractions and the breezy ocean vibes here in the French Riviera’s largest city.  Enjoy a little bit of everything, taking advantage of the year-round sunshine by lounging on the gorgeous white sands at the edge of the turquoise Mediterranean, ascending the Colline du Chateau to take in a stunning view from the top, and shopping the outdoor markets with fresh produce, including famously delicious figs, spices, flowers, and even antiques.

  • Bordeaux

For the avid wine enthusiast, it’s hard to beat Bordeaux, one of the most famous wine regions in France. A wine tour with someone else behind the wheel is the best way to sample the offerings. But there’s a lot more to discover here too, with over half the city a UNESCO World Heritage Site with impressive medieval architecture like Bordeaux Cathedral, La Grosse Cloche, and Port Cailhau. Visitors can learn about Bordeaux’s history at Musee d’Aquitaine and more about wine at the La Cite du Vin through an interactive experience. There are cruises on the River Garonne and many wine bars too.

When to Visit France

France enjoys mild temperatures which makes it comfortable to visit much of the year depending on your specific destination. The south has a Mediterranean climate, with many heading to the beaches to soak up the sun, while the north experiences wetter weather. That said, the peak tourist season is April through October. August is the busiest month so avoid it if you want to miss the crowds. Many feel the best time to visit is during the shoulder seasons of April/May or September/October with temperatures ranging anywhere from the upper 50s to the upper 70s Fahrenheit. Winter brings the opportunity to ski world-renowned slopes.
