Day by Day Itinerary
- Days 1 - 3
Cape Town
Welcome to Cape Town. A driver/guide will meet you at the airport for a transfer to your hotel in Cape Town. On the second day, you will have a private tour of the Cape Peninsula. In the morning, you will drive along a road that winds between the Atlantic and the mountains to the southwestern tip of the African continent. Enjoy a stop in the charming Hout Bay and at several gorgeous viewpoints that provide outstanding photo ops. Your guide will bring you to Boulders Beach, home to a famous penguin sanctuary, before taking you to a beach only known to the locals where you can relax on the sand right with the tuxedoed birds.
Other optional excursions include a tour of Robben Island, a Cape Town food and wine tour, rent a sea kayak to get up close and personal with Cape Town’s marine life, visiting the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens has a café, walks and some of the most beautiful gardens in the country, among many others. Cape Town also has wonderful hiking trails through the mountains and reserves. These can be guided or self-guided.
- Days 4 - 5
Cape Winelands
Journey into the Cape Winelands where endless vineyards cover the landscape less than an hour from Cape Town, where you’ll learn about the region’s wine while tasting with some of South Africa’s top winemakers. Discover the story of Pinotage, the indigenous grape created in 1925, by the grandson of viticulturist Abraham Perold who first cloned it. A cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault, it’s surprisingly bolder than both its progenitors.
At the next wine farm, you’ll enjoy a wine and food pairing. This tour is tailor-made to your wine tastes, so let us know what you enjoy! You will spend two nights at L a Fontaine which is located in Franschhoek. Its location is fantastic, and you are able to walk along the main street to enjoy many of the highly-rated restaurants there.
- Day 6 - 8
Sabi Sand Private Reserve
You will be transferred back to Cape Town airport this morning for your flight to the Sabi Sands – the most famous group of private game reserves in Africa. The Sabi Sand Reserve shares a 50km unfenced boundary with the main Kruger National Park allowing the wildlife to wander freely through a huge area. Two perennial rivers, the Sabi and Sand Rivers sustain the diverse fauna and flora of the area, which enjoys one of the highest and most bio-diverse wildlife populations of any reserve in Africa.
The Sabi Sands is a private reserve, which means that only lodge guests can explore the reserve. There are no crowds and you can enjoy the beauty and peace of the African bush. You will stay for 3 nights in the most luxurious of lodges – Nottens Bush Camp. Here, you will be on an all-inclusive basis so all of your meals, drinks, and safari activities are included.
As your activities are tailored to your interests, what you do will all be determined by that, but one thing you can expect is every moment to be different. Perhaps you’ll wake up to see kudus grazing just steps from your accommodation or you’ll witness elephants wandering by as you watch the sun come up. At night, you might head out for a game drive to track leopards. The wildlife is all around, whether you’re at your lodge or taking part in a variety of adventures. With four days here, you’re likely to leave with a long list of sightings.
- Day 9
Sabi Sands Departure
While today is departure day, the better news is that there will be time for one last safari activity before saying goodbye. After enjoying your final look take a private transfer through the bush to the airport for a direct flight to either Cape Town or Johannesburg, where you’ll connect with your international flight home.
