With family roots in Kenya, it became a continent I have naturally gravitated towards. Day by Day Itinerary
- Days 1-2
Cape Town
Welcome to Cape Town. Upon your arrival, you’ll take a private transfer in a luxury vehicle to your upscale accommodation in the city. After checking in, enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure, perhaps taking time to relax and refresh after your long flight. When you’re ready you might want to enjoy the V&A Waterfront. You’ll find lots to do, like shopping at the Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre with over 450 South African and international stores, or dining at a wide range of restaurants from casual to fine dining. A ride on the Cape Wheel brings 360-degree views of the harbor and the city. During your days in Cape Town, you will have a private tour of Cape Peninsula. You’ll get to see the waddling penguins at Boulders Bay, take a stroll through the diverse local flora at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, ride a funicular to windswept Cape Point at the extreme southwestern tip of the African continent, and at the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, enjoy birdwatching and wildlife spotting, including antelope and baboons. You’ll pass through a number of picturesque villages and towns where you can buy a tasty lunch too.
- Day 3
Cape Winelands Tour
Today day, you will visit the Cape Winelands. Your private/driver guide will bring you to explore the three main towns in the Cape Winelands, wine tasting and enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way. At Stellenbosch, you can admire the Cape Dutch architecture and canals, then sip wines paired with desserts and chocolates that are hand-selected to bring out the best flavors. Look forward to the views while driving over scenic Helschoogte on your way to the country’s culinary capital, Franschhoek, where you’ll enjoy a tasting at one of the wine estates before continuing to Paarl, which sits at the base of spectacular granite domes, for a final wine tasting.
- Day 5 - 7
Garonga Safari Camp, Kruger
This morning, a private transfer will bring you back to Cape Town’s airport to catch your flight to Kruger National Park where your thrilling safari begins. Upon your arrival at Nelspruit Airport, you’ll be met by our driver for a private transfer to Garonga Safari Camp, watching for game along the way. Once you’ve checked into the camp, and settled into your accommodation if time allows you can join a game drive for relaxing this evening with sunset cocktails around the boma, a gathering place where guests meet for candlelit dinners and drinks in an open-air atmosphere. Rise early the next morning for an exciting game drive. You’ll head out in an open vehicle with an expert guide and tracker who will help point out the animals and tell you about the creatures you’re seeing. Just some that you might encounter include wild dog and cheetah along with the Big Five: lion, rhino, elephant, African buffalo, and a good-sized population of leopard. After returning to your accommodation, enjoy breakfast and perhaps a nap before embarking on an afternoon game drive that will continue after dark bringing sightings of nocturnal species like rhino that may be seen using the vehicle’s spotlights.
- Days 7-10
Ilala Lodge, Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)
It’s time to catch another flight, this time to Victoria Falls. After checking out of your accommodation you’ll take a private transfer to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport. Upon your arrival at Victoria Falls airport (Zimbabwe), you’ll be met by a private driver for transfer to Batonka Guest House where you will stay for 3 nights. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at your leisure, but you might want to embark on a guided sunset cruise. While floating along the river you’re likely to spot all sorts of local wildlife like crocodiles, hippos, and birds, as your guide tells you more about the creatures you’re seeing. Visit Victoria Falls, the world’s largest based on its combined width of over 5,600 feet and height of 354 feet, with its indigenous name, Mosi-oa-Tunya translating to the “Smoke that Thunders.” Gaze out at the massive expanse, feeling the spray on your skin and listening to the powerful roar. The falls sit within Mosi O Tunya National Park, where game drives for watching animals like impala, zebra, and giraffe can be enjoyed. There are lots of activities available in the Victoria Falls area. These include walking scenic trails, whitewater rafting, canoeing, or fishing. We highly recommend a scenic microlight flight or helicopter flight to view the falls from above. You can also take a day trip over the border to Botswana to visit the famous Chobe National Park.
