Uganda is the perfect destination for those looking for adventure and unforgettable experiences. This week-long itinerary takes you through three major national parks: Kibale Forest where you will get to experience the chimpanzees, Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will spot the famous tree-climbing lions, and of course, Bwindi National Park which is home to the mighty mountain gorillas. Your safari experience will include both private and shared activities, with professional guides, rangers and local experts with you at all stages.

DAY 1
Entebbe
You will met on arrival in Entebbe international airport by a private, local guide/driver. They will welcome you into Uganda – a country home to arguably, the friendliest people on the planet! Day 2 & 3
Kibale National Park
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be met by your private driver/guide and begin driving to your first destination – Kibale National Park. This drive will be approximately six hours but you can stop as much or as little as you’d like on the way. You will pass tea plantations and Fort Portal along the way which is a good opportunity to stop and stretch your legs. Relax for the afternoon and evening, enjoying the views, swimming pool and the friendly staff at your service.

You will have an early morning breakfast before you head out for your chimpanzee trek! Kibale Forest is an extremely diverse and dense tropical forest – the perfect home for these wonderful primates. You will have a briefing at Kibale Forest headquarters to run through the logistics, safety features and the behaviours of chimpanzees. Once you have been assigned your group with a ranger, you will begin to trek the forest to find the chimpanzees. After your chimpanzee trek, you will continue on to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is beautifully scenic.

  Kyangina Lodge has, arguably, the best views in all of Uganda. The lodge is set against a picturesque backdrop of the mighty Rwenzori Mountains and Lake Kyangina (hence the lodge name). Although you do have to walk up a lot of wooden stairs, a welcome drink and a team of friendly staff will greet you as you arrive into the main area. As you walk out onto the raised wooden deck, the view is the first thing you blow you away. In front of that, a swimming pool sparkles under the strong African sunshine. Kyaninga Lodge has 9 cottages which are all accessible via a wooden walkway. Because of its position on the edge of the crater, each cottage has a private veranda with the same exceptional views. The rooms feature indoor seating areas (where your morning tea or coffee will be brought to), ensuite bathrooms with elegant décor and freestanding baths.   With views out to the Rwenzori Mountains, Ndali Lodge is a great option for those visiting the chimpanzees in Kibale Forest as it is a 45-60-minute drive from the park headquarters. Kibale Forest is a must-do in a Uganda itinerary. The dense and vibrant forest is home to the largest concentration of chimpanzees in Africa, and with such a smooth operation and such fantastic resident rangers and guides, it’s no wonder that this chimpanzee experience is on many people’s bucket lists. The benefit of Ndali Lodge’s location is that it provides a sanctuary. When you get back from your chimpanzee trek, you can enjoy the lodge tranquillity or enjoy a walk around the nearby crater rims, banana, coffee and vanilla plantations and Muhoma Falls. The cottages are comfortable and the main area has all the facilities you could want – a swimming pool, a spa, delicious food and dining spaces, panoramic views, and community projects.
Day 4
Queen Elizabeth National Park
You will begin your day with a morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is home to over 100 mammal species including lion, buffalo, elephant, hippo, hyena and the elusive giant forest hog. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a boat ride on the Kazinga Channel. This will give you the opportunity to see elephant, hippo, crocodile and hundreds of bird species. It’s a truly beautiful experience. Day 5 & 6
Bwindi National Park
On route to Bwindi National Park, you will drive through the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park for a game drive. This area is called Ishasha which is famous for its resident tree-climbing lions. As you will have your own driver/guide and vehicle, you can enjoy the safari at your own pace, looking out for wildlife at all moments. When you arrive at Bwindi National Park, you will spend the next two nights in Bwindi Lodge – a stunning lodge offering an exceptional location and overall service.

Here is the gorilla trek! After a big morning breakfast (you’ll need it for energy), you will be transferred to the park headquarters to be briefed on the logistics and rules of gorilla trekking, Each group includes 6 people, rangers, trackers and porters. Once assigned your group, you will begin your trek to find the gorilla group. This may be anywhere between 2 and 6 hours so be prepared and ready to hike! Once you find them, you will be allowed one hour to watch, observe and enjoy their presence. It is a humbling experience.

Day 7
Entebbe
After a breakfast in Bwindi Lodge, you will be transferred to the airstrip to fly to Entebbe. As you fly over south western Uganda, you will see the rolling hills, the thick vegetation and local farms. It is a great way to end your adventure in Uganda and reflect on the unforgettable experiences you have done over the past week. Once you land, you will be met on arrival and transferred to the international airport to connect onto your flight home.
