There are so many exceptional safari destinations across Africa, but two names that sit at the top of the list are the Serengeti National Park and the Okavango Delta. Both destinations - in Tanzania and Botswana respectively - are iconic in the safari world. The Serengeti is famed for its vast open plains with a magnitude of wildlife. The Serengeti offers an unforgettable safari experience; You'll start your day with an early morning game drive, enjoy lunch and a siesta during the middle of the day back at camp, and then head out for an afternoon/ evening game drive later in the day, when temperatures are cooler and the animals are more active.

You'll then fly to Botswana, where you'll take a light aircraft plane into the floodplains of the Okavango Delta. The landscape here is completely different - with a mix of dense vegetation, open floodplains and waterways that connect the whole ecosystem of the Delta together. During your time here, you'll also get two game viewing activities per day - early morning and late afternoon - but there is an option to do water activities like boat safaris and mokoro rides.

Amongst the chaos of the wildebeest migration herds, look up to find a sky full of beautiful and colorful birds. It really is a magical place. Eastern Serengeti, Tanzania

This morning you will fly from the northern plains of the Serengeti to the central plains. From here, your safari guide will pick you up and you’ll begin your safari through to the remote plains of the Eastern Serengeti. This area was closed off to the pubic for over 20 years in an attempt to preserve the population of big cats – cheetahs in particular. Today, the area has reopened but only a handful of safari camps are based here, which means that it still offers a very exclusive safari experience, with minimal jeeps around sightings. On top of that, the conservation efforts have worked exceptionally well, and today the big cat numbers are thriving. In fact, it’s one of the best places in Tanzania – if not Africa – for cheetah sightings.

      Okavango Delta, Botswana

Today you’ll fly from Johannesburg to Maun, Botswana. On arrival into Maun Airport, you will be met and board your light aircraft for your flight into the Moremi Game Reserve. The flight is in a small aircraft that flies at low altitudes so you can spot the larger animals from the plane.

You will spend the next four days exploring the Okavango Delta, which comprises of the river, the marshlands and woodlands. This is a private reserve so there is a greater range of activities available. Activities while you are here include; game drives, walking safaris, night drives and mokoro trips. A mokoro is a traditional narrow dugout canoe and a great way to explore the water channels of the Delta. An expert local propels you through reed-lined channels in silence so the wildlife is undisturbed. If you would like to get out into the reserve on foot, a walking safari is possible in the Khwai. Your expert guide will take you out to get up close and personal with the wildlife.
