Day by Day Itinerary
- Day 1 - 3
Central Kalahari
On arrival into Maun Airport in Botswana you will be met and assisted to your light aircraft for your flight to the Central Kalahari. The reserve is one of the largest in the world with huge areas of grass land. This arid habitat is home to the legendary Kalahari black maned lion as well as outstanding cheetah viewings. There is minimal tourism in the area and is an unexplored wilderness.
The camp is located on the edge of an enormous pan close to Deception Valley. The camp comprises of eight en-suite canvas suites with a sleep out platform where you can choose to sleep under the Kahalari stars. Depending on the time of year the landscape is very different. In the winter you can enjoy a classic desert landscape. In the summer, the rains transform this desert into green plains. The game viewing is plentiful all year round and is especially known for its big cat sightings as well as the smaller animals, Cape Fox, Honey Badger and Mongoose. Every day you will head out on a morning and afternoon game drive with your experienced ranger. The camp also offers its guests the opportunity to go on a guided walk to learn more about the life of the San Bushmen, the tribe of the local area.
- Day 4 - 6
Okavango Delta
This morning you will enjoy your morning game drive before you are transferred to the airstrip for your flight into the Okavango Delta. Little Vumbura Camp is located in a private concession in the north of the Delta. The camp is built on a private island surrounded by water and comprises of six luxury tented rooms. Each room is ensuite with a private deck and plunge pool.
The camp has an outstanding location where guests can enjoy game viewing activities on land and water. This variety of habitat is what makes the game viewing at Little Vumbura exceptionally good. As it is a remote private concession, you will not see other guests, it is your own piece of wilderness. Activities here include a mokoro trip (traditional canoe), a motorboat trip, a guided walk or a traditional game drive. There is an option while you are at Little Vumbura to book a helicopter flight or hot air balloon trip to see the Delta from the air (additional cost). The camp also offers night drives where you can head out into the reserve in search of the nocturnal wildlife and try to spot porcupines, bush babies, owls and aardwolf.
- Day 7 - 9
Linyanti Concession, Okavango Delta
This morning you will enjoy your morning game drive before you are transferred to the airstrip for your flight into the Linyanti Concession. The area is dominated by the Linyanti River and the marshes it creates along with the woodlands along the water. In the dry season the water attracts large herds of elephants in search of water. The area is also known for its lion, leopard, wild dog and hyena sightings.
This small camp overlooks the marshes and flood plains, just four en suite tents built on raised decks. The camp offers morning and afternoon game drives, night drives and game walks out into the reserve. Walking in a reserve is an amazing experience and allows you to appreciate the smaller wildlife that is often missed on a game drive. A walk would normally last two – three hours and you will be accompanied by an armed specialist guide. Your guide will show you have to track animals on foot and show you the smaller insects and plants of the reserve.
- Day 10
Depart
Today you will head out on your last game drive before returning to the camp for breakfast. Your guide will transfer you to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight back to Maun for your onward flight connection. You can extend your trip to include a few nights in Victoria Falls, please talk to your consultant for further details.
