Cape Town, nestled where mountains meet the ocean, is a must-visit on a South Africa honeymoon. Beyond its logistical convenience, the city offers diverse attractions, from Robben Island to Table Mountain and Boulders Bay’s penguins.
The Cape Winelands, encompassing Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and vast vineyards, is a dream destination for foodie honeymooners. Visit renowned wineries like Delaire Graff and Mont Rochelle for an unforgettable experience.
Cape WinelandsThe Garden Route, in South Africa’s Western Cape, offers one of Africa’s most stunning coastal drives. Bordered by the glistening ocean and lush mountains, it’s both a journey and a destination.
The Garden RouteSabi Sand, an exclusive private reserve next to Kruger National Park, is a top choice for a safari honeymoon. Its vast concessions provide intimate game drives, and its luxury lodges, including those designed for honeymooners, promise an unforgettable experience.
Second the Kruger National Park in size, Madikwe Game Reserve is a park a little off-the-beaten-track, whilst still having fantastic game viewing. The park offers reliable sightings of elephants, buffalo, antelope, big cats, and more, paired with luxury lodges.
Madikwe Game ReserveCape Town is often included in a South Africa honeymoon itinerary, and rightly so! The cosmopolitan city is an international hub for travelers, both starting and ending their South Africa adventure and offers something for everyone. For active couples, the Table Mountain range that wraps around the city is perfect for hiking, and the trails can be enjoyed throughout the year with or without a private guide. For couples interested in food and wine, enjoy a guided walking tour of the city which takes you to local gems, or award-winning restaurants. For couples keen on history, Robben Island – where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years – is a must-visit. We can also offer cultural township visits and museum visits. We’d recommend spending at least three days in Cape Town if you can as there is so much to do. Get in touch to find out more!
When it comes to unforgettable honeymoon experiences, we have you covered. Whether you are spending time in the cities and towns – such as Cape Town, Franschhoek, and Johannesburg – or on safari in the bush, we have plenty of experiences to offer. Here are just a couple:
South Africa offers year-round travel opportunities. Summer, from December to March, is ideal for Cape Town and the Cape regions, providing a warm escape for those from the UK or the US. However, safari-goers may face hotter and more humid conditions with thicker grass. The winter season from June to September is superb for Kruger National Park, Sabi Sand Reserve, and Madikwe, with sparse vegetation for better game viewing. Mornings and evenings are cooler. Spring and Autumn shoulder seasons are excellent for travelers exploring multiple South African destinations.
Absolutely! Splitting your time between the bustling city of Cape Town and a wilder experience in the bush is very popular for a South Africa honeymoon. As all of our tours are private, we can also organize any excursions you’d like to do in Cape Town. Some of the most popular tours include a Cape Peninsula tour (where you can visit the penguins at Boulders Beach), a food and wine tour, and a guided hike up Table Mountain. We will also help organize the domestic flights or logistics between the city and safari.
The great thing about South Africa is that you can experience the ultimate luxury without a huge price tag, that other destinations across Africa have. Of course, it comes down to personal taste, but we work with a collection of smaller, boutique hotels across the country that are excellent for honeymooners as they offer privacy and that attention to detail.
There are so many special and unforgettable experiences across the country. On safari, we can organize private candlelit dinners or romantic sundowners in the bush. Some safari lodges also have private decks where you can sleep out under the stars – just the two of you. If you’re looking for more adventurous experiences, we can organize things like helicopter rides over Cape Town, shark-cage diving, or private wine-tasting experiences in beautiful vineyards. The possibilities are endless – and it’s our pleasure to go above and beyond to help organize these for you!
